As part of my interview preparation for the role of Social Media Coordinator at Abington Court Retirement Residence, I decided to create a flyer that would bring out the essence of the residence. Using Canva, I designed a flyer that conveyed essential information and visually aligned with the brand’s identity.
Designing with Purpose:
I started by choosing the primary colors from the Abington Court logo: blue and orange. These colors were strategically used to create a cohesive look that is instantly recognizable. The bold blue background is a strong foundation, while the orange accents draw attention to key information, creating a visually appealing contrast.
Visual Details:
The flyer follows a clear visual hierarchy to guide the reader’s eye through the content. At the top, the welcoming message “Welcome to Abington Court: Your Home for Golden Years” is prominently displayed in large, bold text. This immediately informs the reader of the purpose of the flyer.
Key Information:
Below the headline, a supportive statement emphasizes residents’ control over their lifestyle at Abington Court. This message is crucial in highlighting the autonomy and quality of life offered at the residence. The phrase “New Friends, New Experiences & A Lifetime of Care” is italicized and bolded to make it stand out, reinforcing the community and care aspects.
Highlighting Services:
To the right, a list of services provided by Abington Court is presented in bullet points, ensuring that potential residents and their families can quickly understand what makes the residence special. The services include an inclusive community, respect and privacy, exceptional care, responsiveness, rich activities, and comfort and safety.
Personal Touch:
The flyer also features a heartwarming image of two elderly women sharing a moment of joy, which adds a personal touch and illustrates the friendly, welcoming environment at Abington Court. This image is crucial as it visually represents the happiness and companionship residents can expect.
Contact Information:
At the bottom, the flyer includes essential contact details, such as email addresses, phone numbers, and physical addresses, making it easy for interested parties to reach out and learn more.
Conclusion:
Creating this flyer was not just an exercise in design but also an opportunity to understand and communicate the values of Abington Court. It was an important part of my interview preparation, showcasing my ability to create compelling visual content that resonates with the target audience.
